About Ken Sanders Construction

As a kid I was pretty artistic, always drawing or creating something. I thought I wanted to be an architect but I liked working outside.
Throughout college I worked construction to pay the bills while earning a degree in forestry. After a few years growing trees my creative side started to kick in and I decided I wanted to build things instead.
It's so great to bring the dreams of other people to reality in their new homes. To me, each house is a piece of art in that I truly value the real craftsmanship in it. There aren't too many builders left that care for much more than the paycheck at the end of the job and getting it done as quickly and cheaply as possible.
Here at Ken Sanders Construction we'll pay attention to the smallest details from the foundation being straight and level, the interior trim fitting together tight and the drywall being straight and clean.
I have been a licensed general contractor since 1976, 36 years and the last 22 in Florence Oregon.
Over those 36 years I've seen a lot of changes in the building industry including a wide variety of new products and engineering requirements.
This is especially true along the pacific coast where seismic concerns and wind shear considerations are continually bringing new engineering requirements and new products to the industry.
Building on the Oregon coast requires a high degree of attention to detail and techniques that are only mastered through years of experience building hear. The engineering for these homes can require a great deal of steel hardware and structural components. It's not just a stick frame house anymore. They can get complex in a hurry.
Water intrusion is a big issue in home building today especially on the Oregon Coast where wind gusts over 100 mph can push water through the best of membranes. It's like a proving ground for the new products and techniques. If their going to fail, they'll fail here.
We are continually learning new techniques in the battle against water intrusion and have developed a system that, if executed properly, gives good success in keeping water out.
Because there are so many complexities in building homes along the coast here, I have chosen to take a hands-on approach to every project. I am on your job physically doing the work or supervising those who are so we know it get's done right.
I value a strong relationship with every one of our customers. I'll work hard to make sure you get the superior results you expect and I'll stand behind those results for the long haul. You're satisfaction is our success.
