Custom Homes

Let us build your dream home on the Oregon coast

Building a custom home is exciting and something you'll likely spend a lot of time planning for.  When it's time to choose a builder to do the job on the Oregon coast in the Florence area, you're options of builders that can do it right are limited.

Fortunately Ken Sanders Construction has been building custom homes here for 15 years.  That's important because things are different here.  The terrain, the weather and the standards you have to follow, especially when building right along the coast.  There are few places in the country where you're house sits on the side of a cliff and must be built to withstand hurricane force winds.

In a good storm, winds here can easily reach over 80 mph. Rain can literally hit your home directly from the side and at times even be moving upward. If your home isn't built by someone with the proper knowledge of how to build in this environment, water can leak past your windows into your interior where it destroys your drywall.  Maybe worse it doesn't get all the way in but only behind the siding to sit on the wood where you don't notice it until your framing is rotten to the center and structurally dangerous.

In a good stretch of rain (known to happen on the Oregon coast) dirt or sand can quickly erode away from the home's foundation allowing for foundation damage that would be extremely expensive to fix.  Certain materials used in siding can break down under the constant moisture and even begin to mold right on your house as they don't dry out for months.  Rest assured we can help you make the right choices and give you the advice you need based on years of experience here.

At Ken Sanders Construction we have these well known risks on our minds at every stage of the process.  We've seen the damage done by using techniques that would be suitable for other environments but just do not cut it here.  We know how to get the job done right the first time and this is one project you don't want to cut corners on in the final stages.

Sometimes, no matter how careful we are, we could still see issues like this.  But it's good to know you're starting with the best odds and even better to know that on top of that Ken Sanders Construction always stands behind it's work and will assure it's done right before we call it done at all.

Take a look at the pictures on this page of a custom home we built in the "South View" development north of Florence Oregon.  This was a big one but we just want you to know that no matter how complex or simple, how large or small the home, we've got the knowledge and experience to get it done right while you continue to sleep well at night.
